The Town of Whitecourt has terminated the State of Local Emergency (SOLE) as of 12:15 p.m. on Monday, March 15, 2021.
The SOLE came into effect on Saturday, March 13, 2021 in response to a power disruption at the Whitecourt Water Treatment Plant that caused the system to go offline and causing the facility to stop producing water.
The Whitecourt Water Treatment Plant system is back in full operation, and water supply is currently at levels that can sustain demand and ensure the continued safety of the community. The hauling of water from neighbouring municipalities has been discontinued; and the bulk water station at the Water Treatment Plant re-opened at 1:00 p.m. on March 15.
Effective immediately, restrictions on water use are lifted. Residents and businesses can resume normal use of water.
We thank all community members for their cooperation and overwhelming support to conserve water throughout this unprecedented situation.
